FAQs on Certifications

What is a Verifiable Credential?

Verifiable Credential (VC) is a digital certificate that can be used to represent all types of information — including your health records, financial data, and education qualifications. Unlike physical credentials (such as a driving licence or educational diploma), a VC is digitally signed by the issuer of the credential and is machine readable, so that anyone you choose to share it with can easily verify its authenticity and validity without going back to the issuer. Asymmetric cryptography is used to sign and verify VCs, so they are tamper-evident and cannot be easily faked.
